Kais and gods

With the help of my good friend Lady Katz I have put together an in depth discussion on the interesting and often confusing topic of Gods/Kais, which comes into play during the Buu saga.

Kami/God

These Namekian guys are the so-called Guardians of Earth, also responsible for the DragonBalls existence.

Original Kami – Originally the better side of King Piccolo who split his sides to rid himself of his bad counterpart and become pure. This resulted in the Kami we know from the earlier part of DBZ. Though unattached he still shares a deep bond with Piccolo (the bad side) and, should either die, both lives become forfeit. Without Kami the Dragon Balls become useless.

Kami Dende - Child God of Earth

Dende – Dende is a small Namek boy who volunteered to become Earth's new god after the original Kami was forced to merge with Piccolo thus making the DragonBalls inactive. After his ascendance he creates a new set of new-and-improved balls with the ability to grant three wishes instead of one. Dende is also blessed with healing powers.

Kaio's

You’ll probably remember these guys from when Goku died after attempting to destroy Cell and then afterwards ends up in the company of King Kaio (also known as North Kaio). Beginning a rigorous training schedule with his long-time master Goku learns of an after world tournament. There we meet King Kaio’s other counterparts – South, East and West Kaio – who are named after the section of the galaxy they rule.

North of 'King' Kaio

North Kaio – The one we all know as King kaio, he lives at the end of Snakeway and helps our Z-gang to train whenever they end up dead.

East Kaio – A short, little woman, known for her speed. She once challenged Goku to a race out of pride and, obviously, lost.

South Kaio – The biggest of the Kaio’s, known for his peaceful nature although he has the weakest fighters.

West Kaio - Arrogant Little Bug

West Kaio – King Kaio’s rival, they are always fighting over who has the better fighters but, with Goku on his side, the victor is clear.

Dai Kaio's

Dai Kaio’s are rulers of an entire galaxy and bosses of the Kaio’s that rule each sector.

Dai Kaio of DBZ – The only one we meet is arrogant and constantly boasts of his supreme power. In reality we realise that he is weak and out-of-shape, no doubt Goku could beat him within seconds.

Kaioshin

The Kaioshin’s control four galaxies and, naturally, all the Kaio’s and Dai kaio’s who rule the parts of those galaxies.

North Kaioshin – Not much is known about this Kaioshin, only that he's short, a little chubby and likes to fish. ^-^

East Kaioshin – The Kaioshin we all know from the world tournament, later on he fuses together with his servant, Kibito and turns into kibito-kai.

South Kaioshin – A big guy with a reddish Mohawk who eats a lot. He was the first kaioshin to be absorbed by Buu

West Kaioshin – A beautiful woman with the same kind of Mohawk as east Kaioshin, only a lot bigger. She was the first Kaioshin to die at Buu’s hands.

Dai Kaioshin

Last but by no means least the even higher level of Kaioshin’s. Their job is to tell basically everybody what to do although I’m sure there are still higher beings with greater power.

Dai Kaioshin – A very cheerful fellow. When Buu absorbed him he was infected by his purity thus creating the happy, fat Buu we all know and love.

Ruu Dai Kaioshin – The guy locked in the sword Gohan was supposed to pull out of the stone, also a pervert because he upgraded Gohan’s power only on the condition that he be allowed to ogle Bulma’s breasts.
